The public is invited to participate in a Community Visioning Session on May 24 and the Community Presentation on May 26.
PEARL, Miss. The City of Pearl will take another step towards the development of its Main Street Program on May 24-26 as the Mississippi Main Street Association (MMSA) conducts a “Downtown Roadmap” for Main Street Pearl.
The purpose of the “Downtown Roadmap” is to provide Main Street Pearl with a strategic framework or “roadmap” with prioritized recommendations and specific implementation tactics for the next three to five years as the organization guides the downtown revitalization activities for the city of Pearl.
The public is invited to attend a community visioning session on Tuesday, May 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Pearl Community Center. The community visioning session will be interactive, and community members are encouraged to give input to help shape the vision for Pearl’s downtown area.
“We are excited to get our Main Street program off and running,” said Mayor Jake Windham of Pearl. “We want to make sure we understand and take into account the thoughts of our citizens and businesses throughout the process of developing Main Street Pearl.”
All community members are invited to attend the final Community Presentation on Thursday, May 26 at 5 p.m. at the Pearl Community Center. The public presentation will include general observations and recommendations by the Downtown Roadmap Team.
“What Mississippi Main Street is bringing to us is invaluable,” said Main Street Pearl Executive Director Kathy Bourgeois. “Our goal for this process is to bring a diversity of ideas from all parts of the city to our program.”
The Downtown Roadmap Team is comprised of individuals with expertise in a wide range of downtown revitalization experiences. The visit will be comprehensive, and the team’s investigation, observations, recommendations, and presentation will follow the Main Street Approach™ to downtown revitalization.
The “Downtown Roadmap” is a service provided by MMSA to newly designated Mississippi Main Street communities.
